As part of the European helicopter company Dauphin, it is a combat variant of the Harbin Z-9. It was first introduced in 2012 and is still in use. As a light reconnaissance/attack helicopter, the Harbin Z-9, or WZ-9, is manufactured by the Harbin aircraft manufacturing company (HAMC). It is used by both the ground force and the air force of the People's Liberation Army.
